Directions:

From M6 Motorway (Junction 40) and A6 South

Leave the M6 at Junction 40.
Follow signs for A66 Brough and SCotch Corner (ignore the sign for the first exit Penrith A592) and take the second exit (Penrith town centre)

Approaching the next roundabout get into the left hand lane for the town centre (A6).

Take the first exit (sign posted Penrith) passing KFC, B&Q and ESSO garage on your left. As you continue the church tower of St. Andrew's can be seen clearly ahead.

At the traffic lights past the Shell garage continue driving into the town centre.

At Langton Street/Victoria Road (Bargain Booze/John Norris's) bear right and continue past the Co-operative store and Job Centre on the left and Merlin Court on the right.

Once passed the Job Centre on the left and Council offices the road passes Friargate carpark which is a Disc Zone town carpark. This is the most convenient and nearest carpark for St. Andrew's Church.

Turn left into the carpark. (A Parking Disc to display your arrival time on the dash boards can be obtained from local shops and from the Parish Office which is located 50 yards from the carpark.

Please be aware that the enclosed Mansion House walled carpark is not available for parking on weekdays between 8.00 am and 6 pm.  This carpark may be used at Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) for a small charge.

Once you have parked your car, proceed towards St. Andrew's situated in the churchyard on either of two routes. Bishop Yards (along a row of Georgian town houses) leads to the entrance of St. Andrew's Parish Rooms (Penrith Parish Centre) for the Parish Office and the church. Alternatively, access from Mansion House via Wdeltdale Lane and the Rotary Garden to the church grounds.

Alternatively:

If walking is a problem then you are welcome to park in Devonshire Street (close to the Musgrave Monument clock tower) in the centre of Penrith.  There are parking bays in front of the George Hotel and Oxfam shop on the left handside, and also outside the NatWest/Barclays Bank located a stones throw from the church entrance itself.  Cars are permitted to unload at the church gate which is accessed from in front of Barclays Bank.

To park in Devonshire Street, follow the instructions above and continue along Friargate, passing the carpark near Bishop Yards.  The road bears left and proceeds to a set of mini-roundabouts.  Bear left into Sandgate and drive down into the town centre passing the Spar shop, Penrith Co-operative.  At the next junction you will join a one way system at Middlegate which leads through the Narrows and into Devonshire Street where you may park.

From the A6 North

If you intend to enter the town from the north continue into Penrith on the A6 main road crossing over the mini-roundabout between the two petrol stations.  At the next junction continue along Stricklandgate (passing the Town Hall) and follow the one-way-system as the road bears right at Corney Square.  Follow the signs for Penrith Town Centre and turn left into the 20 mph Zone at the top of Middlegate.  For parking in Devonshire Street, continue straight through the Narrows and into Devonshire (before the clock tower).

For Friargate carpark turn left after the pelican crossing in Middlegate and continue passed the Co-operative in Burrowgate, to Sandgate, where the bus station is located and where a Pay and Display carpark is.  For Friargate, turn right at the top crossing over two mini-roundabouts and continue.  The road bears to the right and decends into Friargate where you can park in the Disc Zone.

From the A66

From the East (Brough/Scotch Corner), leave the A66 at the Kemplay roundabout to join the A6 into Penrith and follow the directions above.

From the West (Keswick) continue along the A66 to J40 of the M6 and follow the directions above.
